Design Wall 2011 (5)

Wow. The last DWM of the month. It went so fast.

I have a few things going but thought I would post my next project on my PhD list. About eleven years ago a group of us in Dover, DE took a trip to Lancaster, PA and selected a fabric for a block swap (you can see it in the star block). There were 12 of us. We had a great time and we chose a gorgeous Hoffman print as the base fabric at the Old Country Store.

We agreed to do 12 inch block and they were wonderful. My friend, Beth, finished her quilt years ago and it is fabulous. You can see it here.

I have no idea why I still have this project after this many years. I love the blocks and the fabric. I have all the pieces done, just need to construct them. I made an extra four blocks so I would have 16 in the quilt. To be honest, I cannot even remember which blocks I made....it has been THAT long.

So that is what is on my wall. It will be there until this top is finally done.

Pop over to Judy's blog and see what everyone else is doing.

It's funny how that happens with quilt projects and even though we like them, they languish as UFO'S!

Looks great and is full of the memory of a wonderful trip with friends. I often wonder why I let things sit when I am so close to the end. I guess we just had other things calling our name!!

It's lovely when quilts have stories; be sure and include your friends names in the label and it will generate even more memories.

Putting a quilt up on the wall and leaving it there until it is done is a great way to commit to getting it finished. Have fun finishing it up.

You can do it! And since you love it, it will be done in no time. It just needed time to ripen ;-)
